New season, new look for Wingerworth Bowls Club
The members of Wingerworth Bowls Club’s competitive teams will be looking smart this season thanks to a match-funding sponsorship from Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre.
The club’s 67 competitive members, who form 11 teams in Chesterfield leagues, will be wearing Care UK sponsored shirts and Graham Chambers, the team captain and membership secretary, says they could not have found a more suitable sponsor.
He explained: “The treatment centre is responsible for many of the new knees and hips on the green when our teams play and so we were delighted when the centre offered to match our £500 for the new shirts.”
The two teams met for a friendly to officially mark the start of the sponsorship. Hospital director Steve Booker said: “It was a great game and very competitive too. I believe there were ** new joints on the green, all from operations carried out at Barlborough NHS treatment centre.
“Keeping fit and active, whatever your age, is important to maintaining wellbeing and we were all delighted to be able to ensure the team not only have a spring in their step, but also look great in their new shirts.”
